Over heard today, an old man and woman walking along next to me.
Do you want to get a cup of tea here?Our paths parted at that point, but I watched them doddering off into the distance for a little while. Neither of them seemed to understand a word the other was saying, yet they seemed serenely happy together.We're not there yet.
What?
We're not at the theatre yet.
No, I asked you if you wanted to get a cup of tea here.
Of course I want to get to the theatre. Now hurry up or we'll be late.
It made me wonder how the introduction of hearing aids affected the rates of divorce amongst older couples...

This reminds me of a Nonsequitor comic strip I have on my door. Similar situation, but the punch line is:
