...didn't get the job. Bummer.

It's an outcome I more or less expected and I prepared for it as best I could, but it's still a bit of a blow. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, though, and as I said before I had little to lose so my disappointment won't last too long.

I'll see what feedback I can gather now. I'm quite curious to hear what they have to say.

My heart goes out to you on this. Counsellor mode is off, and friend is ON. While I have to say that you were nervous before hand on things like the taping of the interview, you managed to rise to their challenges with admiration. Who's to say that you weren't stunning? The other candidate may just have had that bit more technical experience which you were unsure you possessed. I feel like I'm scating on thin ice here, but you know where I'm coming from. Recommendation, and I think you'll agree.. getting the job would have meant buying a gift for yourself, and not getting it, getting a cheer yourself up gift! BIG HUGS.
My Nanna's advice (suffers from OWOWS - obvious wise old woman syndrone) is that one door opens as another closes and that the best is yet to come.
Knowing that work also offered the idea of more money, and working remotely, may be of consolation, as too would the fact they highly prize you at your current place! Final word, read back on your postings and think worse case scenario of where the job description appeared wishy washy and subject to change in 6 months to something unspecified.. this may have been a lucky escape, and a good expierence of interviewing, WITH the option of feedback (and juggling).
Hope I've made sense and you're somewhat consoled. Will talk tonight

Sorry to hear that! :( Think happy thoughts over the weekend. My guess is that the long waiting period is indicative of a difficult decision on their part, though.

:-( Damn. Sorry to hear it. Drinks at my place, whisky and skim on standby.
