Left wanting
Foots said it best with a quote from Into The Woods.
Do you know what you wish?I thought about it and the answer is no.
Are you certain what you wish is what you want?
Still no.
It's always been no, after all.
Sigh.
Hmm, there seems to be an excess of existential angst around here just now. Sorry about this. Unusually for me, the new year does seem to have focused my mind a little. It's not so much that I've been doing a lot of thinking, it's just that several questions seem to be persistantly hovering at the back of my mind.
I wonder what would happen if I tried to answer them.

What would happen if you answered them? Something wonderful. Eventually.
I found that when I tried to answer mine, I got a flood of response, which I then sorted through and came up with some fairly specific details.
An example?
Well, before I answered them I didn't know what kind of job I really wanted to have. After I answered them, I had a fairly specific definition (see previous emails for details :-)
A better example?
How about from a previous soul-searching... Let's say back in 1996, when answering the big questions at that time helped me realise what I wanted more than anything else in the world. In 1998, I married her ;-)
Aww, shucks. You're making me blush.
Oy, oy, oy - enough of the lovey-dovey stuff - you'll be giving us old married couples a bad name. For any person of the male persuasion, it would be useful for you to note that Kevin's remark secures much more marital harmony than, for example, "We've been married how long? Blimey, that's longer than you'd get for armed robbery" and suchlike comments. Just a little tip, lads :-)
